Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Nicholas is a twenty-five year old tenor from North Carolina. He is a recent graduate of East Carolina University, where he completed dual Masters of Music degrees in Vocal Performance/Pedagogy and Choral Conducting, respectively. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Vocal Performance from High Point University. Nicholas has garnered recognition at the Mid-Atlantic Regional level of the National Association of Teachers of Singing competition and was a qualifier for the 2017 National Competition. Read More

I am a motivated musician, with a passion for performing and a desire to pass on that passion and a love of music to students of all ages. I am a graduate of Norfolk State University, where I received a Bachelors of Music degree in Music Media with a minor in Piano. My program combined classical saxophone training with, contemporary performance, and modern media outlets. During college I was a member and section leader of the University Marching band, as well as, the principle alto saxophonist (a.k.a. first chair) for both the symphonic band and jazz ensemble. I teach harmony, rhythm, technique, melody, and basic sight reading by a two fold approach. First is to really feel into the music. This means learning to listen deeply with curiosity, intention, respect, and joy bringing the meaning of play into every aspect of learning. The second part is to begin with the basics of music theory by grounding fully into the fundamentals. Learning to work in forms that may seem like an alien language at first but when systematically approached with patience, dedication, and a spirit of playfulness and fun will open up and begin to reveal paths into learning and understanding that will greatly increase ones ability to engage in all musical forms. I typically start out young students with the Essential Elements books, although I also like the Rubank books. If the students are enrolled in a band program, I try to go with the book used in school, while adding in supplemental material as I see necessary. I try to introduce numerous etude books including Ferling, Klose, and Rascher as a progression out of the method books previously mentioned. I try to discuss the interests of my students often to assess what will be an appropriate next step in their musical selection for them to make sure its challenging without causing an overreach and breakdown of their fundamentals Read More

I am a clarinetist, student, and educator excited about sharing my knowledge of music and the clarinet with students. I completed my MM degree in the Spring of 2023 at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, College of Visual and Performing Arts, studying clarinet performance with Dr. Andy Hudson and Dr. Anthony Taylor.
