Books I use for teaching Piano is the Piano Adventures series of books by Nancy and Randall Faber, which is a great lesson book and a good basic piano method for beginners through intermediate level students. For guitar I use the Hal Leonard Incredible Chord Finder and the Warren Nunes Jazz guitar Rhythm and Background Chords and the Solo Patterns book. Since I have a variety of instruments and style I teach and since the needs of each student are different, I structure my materials and teaching methods for the individual. I particularly enjoy teaching beginners and young children. I've taught piano from many books including John Thompson books and Hal Leonard Series. Both my mother and grandmother were pianists and teachers. I use a mix of books (note reading), ear training, and musical games (depending on age) in lessons. I like to offer students a variety of learning styles, in order to find the one that best suits them. I believe each singer is a unique individual, Therefore, the sound they make and the ideas they communicate are as unique as they are. My number one priority is to help a singer find "their special voice" through exercises that accommodate aural, and visual learning styles. These exercises lead to healthy singing and reduce tension, improve breath management, strengthen the voice, and increase range.
