I am a very passionate and motivating teacher who puts the love and dedication into every lesson. With over 40 yrs of guitar study I have published many pieces as well as a successful book on music theory and methodology for Classical Guitar. I have had the pleasure of studying with some of the most influential Classical Guitar performers and professors out there including Virginia Luque who was Andres Segovia's last pupil. I run a global facebook page with students and performers from all over the world. It important for perspective students to understand that I do not teach tablature, I do not teach rock or blues or electric guitar. This is the beautiful Spanish style of Classical Music on a nylon string acoustic guitar. I place an emphasis on music theory, read traditional notation and being able to understand music as well as play it. There is over 600 years of beautiful music waiting for you.
Originally from NY, I have been teaching guitar for over 35 years with motivating and encouraging results. The study of Classical Guitar is a commitment and not an overnight style of music, if you have the passion and dedication I can take you on a music journey of inspiration and reward as we hit your goals together. There is nothing more rewarding than to be able to understand and play music. I have played professionally throughout my late teens and twenties. I no offer wonderful lessons in my safe home where we have access to unlimited music a comfortable environment. I have material from all the masters of Classical Guitar as well as my book that I use in addition to all the other fantastic methods out there. I can be sure of a very well rounded lesson with reading, playing, learning, exploring some history, theory and recommended listening lists.
All students are assessed in reading music abilities as well as playing ability. Beginners are taken through a friendly course of learning about the instrument. For Classical Guitar I use Segovia Scales, Carulli Preludes, Sagreras, Guiliani Right Hand Studies, my own material from my book and some great compilation books to span the various genres of Classical Music to include the Renaissance Period, Baroque Period and Classic Period. Building skills in both left and right hands are essential as well as learning the entire fretboard, something not enough players know. You will learn to read, play scales and begin to build an understanding of both the guitar and the music language. From there you will learn why classical guitar is so special and how to play multi voice parts, and begin learning chords.
My style is friendly and encouraging. My own lifetime of passion is easily seen in everything I present. Lesson are 45 minutes and can sometimes extend another 10 mins free of charge. Each lesson begins with a review of the previous lesson. New material is presented provided the student is able to take on more information. The goals are broken into reading, left hand and right hand abilities, rhythmic study and theory plus the pieces being taught and learned. Progress is measured by what you put in and how I bring you more information.
Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.Ok
Are you sure that's your only availability? The more availability you easier it will be to arrange a teacher for you.
