My teaching method is a give-and-take. The more the student is able to put into the lessons the more I will be able to help them out. We will focus on learning some fundamental concepts and learning songs from artists the student loves. For beginners, it's important to build from a solid foundation, so I emphasize on creating a strong understanding of musical concepts. From there, the student is able to decide on the direction they would like to move towards, classical, pop, etc. I typically teach through the Alfred methods, but am also flexible & have experience from teaching through additional materials that work best for the student. I am extremely dedicated to my students. Understanding how exciting it is to play with accompaniment, I have played piano for multiple student recitals in order for them to learn collaborative skills as well. The piano is also a great way to teach harmony, music theory and improvisation because of its a visual and kinaesthetic elements. When a piano is not available, I make arrangements in my notation software, so that they can still gain the skills and experience, therefore having the music making process a more emotionally rewarding activity.
