I was born in Marshall, Texas. I received my Bachelor of Music and my Master of Fine Arts in Music Education from Stephen F. Austin State University. I've spent seven years in public schools in the surrounding Houston area before coming on to teach with KIPP Houston Public Schools in 2012. My primary instrument is violin/viola under the training of Dr. Isidor Saslav, but spend my weekends on bass for community events and local performances. Read More

As a teacher, it is always rewarding to see students not only improved and made progress but also to see them being focused and enjoy playing music. It's helpful if a teacher can create an inspiring environment that encourages students to try different things and to look for more possibilities of playing music. Students feel more motivated when they can find something interesting in music and they feel more accomplished when they are able to play the music they love. Read More

I started teaching and touring as a guitarist at 16. I have been extremely fortunate to have toured around the world with several artists, in front of huge crowds, played on tons of records and taught hundreds of students. Over the many years I've been doing this, I have seen my students passion grow for their instrument which only pushes and motivates me to grow as a teacher. I have seen students go from knowing absolutely nothing on their instrument to playing some of the biggest stages and festivals in the world. Read More
