I have taught in the classroom, small group settings as well as one on one in both piano and drumset. My favorite thing about music instruction is connecting with the students on a musical and personal level.  I started studying piano at the age of 5, making it my career as a teacher after college and into adult life. I started piano lessons in elementary school before discovering a passion for the guitar. Now, having earned a Music Theory degree from the prestigious Whitman College in Walla Walla, I celebrate my love of music through teaching as well as playing in the Spokane local group Mama Llama. With theory knowledge and years of practice in guitar, piano, voice, and bass, I landed roles in local Walla Walla opera productions and musicals and received the Campbell Music Scholarship before entering post-secondary education. Everybody learns differently and at different paces, and I prefer to cater to those individual styles. The one thing I find both rewarding and beneficial is to learn (or work on) at least one new song or lick for each session. I also encourage the students to keep a journal of songs and licks, just to help visualize and remember all that they have learned. I have been inspired with music since the age of 10. My dad was a big influence being profession jazz guitarist himself. He taught me so much about the guitar and other instruments. This influence has led me to be the teacher as well with guitar, bass, piano, drums and voice, which I have been doing during these years of teaching. The journey of learning music is a marathon, not a sprint.
