I have a friendly and laid back teaching style, maintaining student/teacher professionalism. How much or how fast the student learns depends a lot on how much they practice. It depends on what the student wants to learn. I am there for them. I do make recommendations such as teaching out of a Hal Leonard instructions books (for beginners) and or CD's Play along CD's. , Chord Theories, voicing s and improvisational techniques for the intermediate students ( i.e. basic blues) if they choose to. I also like for them to record their progress (such as picking a basic tune they have learned) if possible so they can get an idea of what they sound like as another recommendation. Read More

My mission statement is To teach with encouragement, humor, patience, and simple terminology, using applied science and body-awareness, all with the goal of vocal expressiveness. I always create a safe, supportive environment where my students can learn to express themselves through singing effectively. I use the McClosky Technique that employs applied science to help my students to sing with complete relaxation and freedom applied to any style of singing. I started teaching at Shoreline Community College in their musical theatre department, leading vocal warm-ups and giving 1-on-1 coaching lessons to actors in their musicals while performing there myself. One of the greatest honors of my life was spending 2 years training under Juilliard-graduate Charles Enlow while at SCC. Since leaving college, I have worked on-and-off as a beginner-intermediate voice coach and piano/guitar teacher around the greater Seattle area.
