My teaching experience dates back to my time as an undergraduate. As a freshman in my music education program, I volunteered to be the music director and conduct the orchestra for a production of The Addams Family Musical. I believe in promoting the things that make each student unique! I like to push my students to strive for new goals and achievements while also making sure that they remain self reliant. Self-reliance is going to be what carries each and every student throughout the course of their career with music. Being able to push and motivate themselves and hold themselves accountable when faced with different challenges are things I like to encourage in all of my students. Read More

I aim to help students enjoy practicing, whatever level they are at. This means lessons will be tailored to each student's interest, while still following a structured progression to help them gradually advance. All students will be guided through long tones, scales, technical studies, etudes, and solo pieces. Students at higher levels may also include orchestral excerpts. We will also discuss how to properly warm up the body and breath, so that practicing can be as healthy as possible and not result in any injuries or discomfort. Read More

I like to start with having the student or their parent fill out an information sheet that will inform me of their experience and musical interests. After gathering that information I like to start with the vocal anatomy, posture, and breathing. I then like to focus on having the student watch a video that shows those things so that they can make an auditory and visual connection. I lime to expose the students to music that they may not be familiar with as well as music that they are interested in so that they can be a well rounded singer. Read More

There is nothing more rewarding to me that seeing my student develop a passion of singing or overcoming a vocal concept. It is important that students progress at their own pace rather than comparing themselves to their friends and colleagues. I help them set goals for them on a weekly basis that will influence their own practice between lessons. I acknowledge my students' accomplishments, which encourages them to continue their progress and makes them eager to learn more. Read More
