Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

Lessons for young students (typically those twelve and under), an hour lesson consists of ten minutes of warm-up material (scales and rhythm concepts), fifteen minutes of content review (songs and concepts previously learned), fifteen minutes of introducing material or practice critique, and ten minutes of in-class practice. The last fifteen minutes of class is for theory building and notation comprehension (in vernacular, music-reading), and the last few minutes is for lesson review, where we discuss what we learned in the lesson and what the expectations are for the following week. I have been teaching musicians of all ages and levels ever since my first year of undergraduate in 2016. I have been contracted every summer since then by Summer Sonatina, a piano camp in Bennington, VT, to teach five to six 45 minute lessons a day. While I do teach at all levels, I tend to gravitate more towards serious intermediate-advanced students. I am a classical pianist, but am able to teach any and all styles involving piano or any other keyboard instruments. Read More

Each student gets a personalized lesson plan built around their musical preferences and playing style. I view our lessons as a collaboration rather than a lecture. Tell me where you would like to end up and I will assemble an action plan to get you there. Do you just want to strum some simple songs or learn music theory and how to improvise? Would you like to write your own songs or just play other people's music note for note? Read More

When meeting a student, I want to find their "currency". Meaning, I want to find what makes them want to work and practice. There is nothing more rewarding than working for a goal and accomplishing it. I like finding music that my student wants to learn and making a music theory lesson that compliments the instrument lesson. I would ideally like my job with my students to be temporary. What I mean by that is to fill them up with all the knowledge and skills that they will be able to pick up their instrument(s) and sight read a piece or learn a piece without my help. Read More
