I am an experienced music teacher with a background in rock, blues, and folk music. As a self-taught guitarist, drummer, and harmonica player, I have years of experience both teaching and performing music. After studying classical guitar, voice, and music education at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, I graduated from Appalachian State university with a master's in guitar performance in August of 2022. I strive to help my students develop and achieve their own musical goals while also helping to provide a structured approach to developing instrumental skills. Read More

For beginning students under the age of 12, I typically like to start with Singing Lessons for Little Singers and New Singing Games for Young Singers: Ten Original Singing Games by Donna Rhodenizer. Once they have progressed and picked up the fundamentals from these lessons I like to move on to Hal Leonard's Giant Book of Children's Vocal Solos. For ages 14 and up I like to focus on songs/styles my students are interested in. Read More

My teaching style is relaxed. I grew up taking lessons that stressed me out and that's the last thing I want any of my students to feel. Music takes practice and sometimes practice is tough, but above all, music should always be fun. My teaching style in encouraging, but not strict. I never want my students to feel like they are letting me down if they do not pick up something as quickly as I would like. Read More

I like to start with having the student or their parent fill out an information sheet that will inform me of their experience and musical interests. After gathering that information I like to start with the vocal anatomy, posture, and breathing. I then like to focus on having the student watch a video that shows those things so that they can make an auditory and visual connection. I lime to expose the students to music that they may not be familiar with as well as music that they are interested in so that they can be a well rounded singer. Read More
Instruments: Trombone, Drums, Euphonium, French Horn, Tuba, Mallet Percussion, Orchestral Percussion, Music
My teaching style provides an interactive learning environment for students. Each lesson challenges the student to achieve or surpass their goal. Students are free to ask questions, explore, and take risks while learning their instrument. Every lesson provides the use of Technology, audio, video, and the latest music software. To add further reassurance, I choose to play instruments along with the students during every lesson. This style allows students to learn while enjoying themselves. Read More
