Nothing is more rewarding for me than seeing my students develop a passion for music. I expect my students to have a willingness to learn and an open mind and heart for trying new things, and experimenting with and discovering new sounds. MOST OF ALL! Have fun with this! Voice lessons can be thrilling. I encourage setting realistic goals for my students during lessons and outside of lessons. Music is meant to be fun, so I incorporate fun games and interesting challenges into each of my lessons, while working on music that you love. Read More

I believe that music students are not "one size fits all", so I create an individual approach catered to each student's strengths, weaknesses, and interests. My teaching style provides an interactive learning environment for students. Each lesson challenges the student to achieve or surpass their goal. Students are free to ask questions, explore, and take risks while learning their instrument. Every lesson provides the use of Technology, audio, video, and the latest music software. To add further reassurance, I choose to play instruments along with the students during every lesson. This style allows students to learn while enjoying themselves. Read More

My teaching style is relaxed. I grew up taking lessons that stressed me out and that's the last thing I want any of my students to feel. I never want my students to feel like they are letting me down if they do not pick up something as quickly as I would like. Read More

I create my own lesson plans (and some materials) specific to each student. Some standard books I use are Alfred's Drum Method book 1, The New Breed, Portraits in Rhythm, The Drummer's Complete Vocabulary to name a few. The books are necessary for developing music literacy, however I remind students that the pages don't make sound!!! Developing a discerning ear is paramount in my approach. Therefore we do a lot of listening and I engage students in dialogue for them to develop a personalized mental image of what they are trying to play. Read More
