I've been giving lessons since I was in high school, but I was able to expand the instruments I'm able to teach from my college training. In my second book I devote most of the curriculum to teaching the concepts of chord theory with movable chord patterns and learning to play scales over chords for improvisation. I believe music should be fun and challenging, so I make sure to be patient, encouraging, and passionate during lessons. I love to play with them (duets, etc.) whenever possible, so that the student may learn the joy of making music with others. In order to ensure that the student develops at a steady pace, I make sure to provide reasonable and regular goals or checkpoints that the student may work toward in their individual practice.
