Nothing makes me happier than a satisifed student who can play better than I could at their age! Everyone has different expectations; some want to become proficient, while others want to become virtuosos, and I frame my lessons around the student's goals. The student is never talked down to or berated, and always encouraged; music is hard enough without negative comments. I encourage students to listen, listen, and listen some more to music, and also to read as much as they can about music. Read More

I use positive reinforcement to help students get better at playing the guitar. I make the student feel comfortable learning and make the lessons fun. I have been teaching on and off for about 25 years. as my recording career permits. For the past 7 years, steady in my home studio. My teaching style is based on years of experience and influences. I have combined approaches of teaching styles and knowledge from some of the top Jazz guitarists in the world to create my own method. I have been writing my own music since I was 14 and with the tools I teach students, it stirs up their creative juices and I encourage them to write & perform their own music. I combine the technique of Blues, Rock, & Jazz with ear training, helping a student to easilly recognizing chord changes in order to learn songs off a recording, instead of just copying other guitarists. My teaching style is light and fun and geared to the temperament of the child and the specific goals of the parent. My methods are traditional pedagogy. With younger students under the age of 5 and special needs students I make use of tactical manipulatives for example play doh to assist with fine motor skills. I also incorporate if needed coloring full body movement etc if needed. I try to set realistic goals with both the student and parent bringing various rewards and incentives for achievement..
