I began playing cello in elementary school and started teaching cello lessons while I was in middle school. I love to teach and share music with my students. I graduated Manhattan School of Music in 1977  and proceeded to get my Masters degree and teaching certificate. I began teaching woodwinds when I was 18 while attending Northern Illinois University. I would help junior high and high school students in the area in private lessons. At age 23 I began teaching music courses at Istanbul Bilgi University, in Turkey. After leaving Turkey in 2001, I have focused on private lessons, teaching students of all ages and ability levels. I have been fortunate enough to perform with many incredible world-class musicians such as Quincy Jones, Phil Collins, Tito Puente, Chaka Khan, David Sanborn, Toots Thielemans, Paquito DRivera and Gerald Albright. Guitar lessons are customized for each student. Teaching style includes finger exercising, chord knowledge, learning songs/riffs, jamming - soloing , music theory and note reading (if desired). I usually use a basic method book to get the basics going then, depending on the student, tailor a course that they hopefully find interesting and fun. My #1 policy is: Never leave a student with a confusion. I personally make sure that the student has fully understood the lesson before I leave that even means staying over the time scheduled at my own cost. I make the lessons fun and set goals for every lesson. This is to aid the student in acheiving something and getting the feeling of accomplishment when having done so.
