I have used these books in my development and am very comfortable and confident with their ability to help studnets progress. I have my students record how long they practice each day to see if they meet the required goal of practicing 15mins-30 minutes for a beginner student every day, to up to an hour of practice for more advanced students. If they achieve the goal of practicing from 5-7 times a week, they will be rewarded in some way to show that I appreciate their hard work with candy/stickers. Read More

She is an advocate of the Alexander Technique and incorporates it into her lessons; she is working on becoming certified in the near future. For young children, I usually choose teaching books that are more fun and give them a basic start with understanding musical symbols by performing tasks in their books. Once students begin to understand how to read and play, I start to introduce the next level of material for them. For adults, I focus on what they are interested in and give more in-depth theory or compositional discussions if they wish or guide them towards playing pieces they always wanted to learn. Read More

I like to see what the student is currently working on, interested in, or what the school district encourages.   I am open to student / parent wishes; I understand that while some student goals are to find a career with music, there are many who are looking to grow within a hobby!
