I have been teaching private lessons for over 8 years. Some of my students competed in state solo and ensemble competitions and received Gold and Silver awards. Other students have participated in recitals, music camps, and marching bands. Before I started giving lessons, I volunteered with a community group in Indiana called the Phillips Music Guild of Indianapolis. No prior music experience is necessary: we will learn about reading music, music theory, and music history. I introduce students to short duets very early, as it makes a student feel confident in their ability to make a beautiful sound. At the very beginning level I would start with fundamentals from whatever book I feel would be best for the student depending on their age and knowledge. Beforehand I definitely will need to asses their knowledge so I can do so accordingly. I however will now focus on solely fundamentals and will try to include in songs that the student would like to learn as long as it is in the bounds of reality, the lessons I provide are only part of the equation and the real work is what is put in after the lesson. I began piano lessons at 5 and never stopped.  I hold many certificates from The Associated Board of The Royal Schools of Music, studied Piano Performance at Edna Manley College of Visual and Performing Arts as well as Western European Music History at the University of South Florida.
