Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 18 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 5 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I use a variety of method books--Bastien, Hal Leonard, John Thompson, and Faber are all favorites of mine for piano. For strings, I stand by the Suzuki method and String Builder series. All lessons are supplemented with sheet music that I print out myself for free on imslp.org, so you get that free of charge! I have been teaching cello lessons, both privately and in schools, since 2003. I have taught students of all levels, ages 4-80. I have an education from various aspects of music, with a BA in musicology from Yale, a MM in cello performance from the Mannes College of Music, and cello performance studies at the SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Music. I maintain an active performing schedule in the New York area, where I play with a trio, a string quartet, and various other ensembles. Read More
