In essence, my love of teaching stems from my Mom's love of teaching. She sincerely desired to teach my siblings and myself to pursue our highest dreams. It turned out that I did succeed as a star performer in music, on stages around the world. But also, when I decided to settle down, I added education to my 10-year plan. The most effective teachers that I have had were teachers who recognized these important factors in the student-teacher relationship- that the best education experiences occur when both the student and the teacher embark on a positively-reinforced exploration together as opposed to the teacher solely dictating negatively to the student. Students are really the cornerstone of my teaching style. Many teachers use a "one size fits all" methodology to their students. By tailoring my teaching to my students specific talents, they will be very eager to learn! Students all have different learning styles, and different concepts they struggle with. I use students' learning styles to develop the skills to learn concepts. Learning each and individual technique does indeed work. However, teaching a student how to learn concepts allows for greater understanding, and it allows them to take ownership of their own playing. Read More
