I use the Suzuki method for strings. I was classically trained in this method. I find that this method is an excellent way for beginners to gain basic technique and learn at their own pace. It is also great for intermediate students as the transition into this method does not take long once I have evaluated the student's skill level. The most important part of what I teach is to HAVE FUN! Read More
Instruments: Cello
If music as a whole is completely new, I tend to delay it, teaching by ear at first to establish technique fundamentals and aural skills. Instruments: Cello
For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements and incorporate Position Pieces for Cello by Rick Mooney as they progress to higher levels of difficulty. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More
Instruments: Piano, Violin, Cello

Instruments: Piano, Violin, Cello, Viola, Double Bass, Music
I use the Belwin Mills and String Builder books, also Klengel Technical Studies as well as Harvey S Whistler Position Books. Selected repertoire as the student advances. For beginning adults I try to determine exactly what they are wanting to achieve by starting an instrument at this point in life. For the beginner I determine what kind of talent they have and how to proceed with lessons. Learning an instrument is hard - and practice time at home is essential and must be consistent to progress.
