My style largely depends on the student and his/her needs and interests. I enjoy using rewards-based encouragement, especially for younger students. The rewards I give are always musical and I usually let the student choose. For example, one of the rewards for consistent practice, learning songs, and listening to recordings is the opportunity to write a parody song. I graduated from Campbellsville University in 2012 with a bachelors in vocal music education and in 2015 with a masters degree in special education. I have been in the marching band in high school for the last 5 years (8th grade - 12th grade) and was in the Ohio Chirstian University choir where we traveled to sing for different churches for 4 years. Music has always been in my blood and love to teach those who love music as well.   It is my goal to teach my students the basics of music to encourage and grow their love of music; from picking up their first instrument to singing their first note, my goal is to teach them music while playing and having fun by using the Kodály method. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with breathing and vocal exercise. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals and are introduced to the Belcanto technique, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate, for their first recital performance or audition. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guild my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging, fun, productive and fruitful, no matter their ability level.
