For beginning piano students who are children, I usually begin with Alfred's Basic Piano Library or James Bastien. Once the student has grasped a good level of fundamentals, I begin to introduce level appropriate solo repertoire pieces not only of my choosing, but of the students choosing as well. I hope to help students develop listening and sight singing skills, as well as improving their technique. My teaching style is focused and active. I appeal to students’ learning modalities by varying my approach; visual demonstrations, listening activities, dancing, and drawing combine to enhance student understanding.   In teaching voice, I am sensitive to the delicate nature of young voices and teach total musicianship, including tonal memory, scales, sight-reading, and repertoire. I highly encourage students to sing music they love and feel a real connection to; any style or genre is fair game!
