Overview:

I am passionate musician who began studyin classical piano at the age of four and classical voice at the age of 8. I have been giving lessons for the past 22 years and have a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Georgetown College, where I have also taught. I toured with two artists and also did two European tours with the Voices of Gospel. I have produced albums. Some of my past voice students have been public speakers/preachers, rap artists, singers, and educators. I have taught piano to people of all ages as well as theory classes.

EXPERIENCE

I began study classical piano at the age of five and classical voice at age 8. I grew up attending a performing arts grade school. Got my first job as a musician at age twelve and began taking private students from my piano teacher’s waitlist (at his request) at age thirteen. I have worked primarily in the sacred/church world, but have taught music to people from all backgrounds, and in several different school settings. Also served as an accompanist to several schools. Currently I do coaching and consulting and serve as a worship director to a network of over 500 churches.

METHODS USED

I try to assess each student and develop an individual learning plan for them based on their goals, expectations, and ambitions. Typically for classical piano students, I use Alfred’s curriculum (both the student and Adult levels depending on need) and once a classical foundation is learned, we venture into ear training and learning a variety of genres. For voice students, I start with a full vocal assessment and then based on their desired outcomes, work the client to set a course of learning individualized for them.
