I teach from a flexible curriculum depending on the student's goals and interests. If someone wants to learn technique, music theory, songwriting, how to play Taylor Swift songs, arranging, composing, confidence, et cetera we will work on what is driving them to take lessons and learn! I also like to do rhythm exercises with my younger students for example I will clap a rhythm and have them clap it back to me. I will assign repertoire that is appropriate for their level. I began teaching in high school due to me being the student director of the choir and my choir director knowing my background vocally, encouraged me to help some of the incoming students and choir hopefuls. By the end of my junior year of high school, I was giving private lessons 5 times a week and directed some pieces during competitions. My method is to find common ground with the student so that they can relax. Relaxation, emotional and physical, is very important for singing. After that, I teach breath support, vowels, style and languages. I speak 5 Western languages and some Mandarin Chinese. I enjoy showing how to use vowels within technique to be consistent and keep your voice healthy. I think how I teach is holistic, fun, and supportive.
