I focus on the sandwich method, which is one positive trait, something to work on, then another positive trait. Everyone is different, so their learning pace is different as well. However, I supplement this music with exercises found in other method books, as well as fun games and activities that help my younger students learn more about the violin. Although building technique and comfort are extremely important, I find that the most essential aspect of learning an instrument is to study the music that you love, and I'm definitely open to adding a bit of musical theory to every lesson if the student is interested.
