Musical games, singing, clapping, and moving are all part of my musical curriculum for children of this age. I reinforce musical and instrumental concepts through play, so they learn without even realizing it! Middling children (Ages 8-12) can often handle a more rigorous curriculum. Rudiments (scales, arpeggios, etudes) are far more important than songs to teach foundation and technique, but the songs are the 'treat' and definitely the fun part. Read More

I am a fun and easy-going instructor and I love working with people. In 2015, I graduated from SUNY Fredonia with a Bachelor of Music degree in Viola Performances. Asides from viola, I also play piano and drums at local churches. I currently teach at Edward R. Murrow High School, so I commute between Brooklyn and Queens and am willing to teach in both areas. My teaching experience is quite varied. I've taught young children as a member of Mimi Zweig's pedagogy classes, and I currently teach group classes to 3rd-5th graders here in NYC. I've taught chamber music to teenagers in Indiana University's Summer String Academy and to adult learners in Montreal. Scales, arpeggios, etudes and other exercises are an important part of daily practice, reinforced by weekly technique classes. I try to create a unique and individualized lesson methods and plans. I try to personalize my lessons in a way that best suits a student's personality. Not everyone learns in the same manner. My lessons include theory, technique, solo repertoire, ear training and performance preparation. Performance is an art form and takes preparation and practice.
