As a third generation trumpet player, I am thoroughly passionate about the trumpet. For students learning their first instrument and learning how to read music, I like to spend the majority of the time buzzing on the mouthpiece, breathing, as well as studying and playing easy warm ups such as Remingtons. This way students can build their fundamentals for their instrument at the same time they are developing better reading skills. For stringed instruments, I uses the Suzuki method for teaching the basic repertory of the instruments. This method is an ear training method in which the student plays by ear. It starts out very simple so students of all ages can learn and progress very quickly. Learning a musical instrument is not a race, it is a process that takes time. We will learn and progress at our own pace. Each lesson will be designed for realistic results and to build on each of them. Each milestone will be acknowledged and celebrated, encouraging my students to want to lean more.
