I first began teaching music in 2006 as the trumpet instructor at Silver Creek Central School where I directed trumpet master classes for high school students.I later took on various private students teaching trumpet, guitar, electric bass, improvisation, and arrangement composition.While earning my Master of Music at the University of the Arts, I served as the trumpet department intern and was responsible for teaching private trumpet lessons, preparing transcriptions for class materials and live performances, and proctoring music theory exams.Also at UArts, I was a teaching assistant for the Freshman Jazz Improvisation class for which I conducted sectionals, administered exams, and offered critiques regarding inventiveness of improvisations. Hello! My name is Eric, and I'm a multi-instrumentalist with the deepest history on trumpet. I began playing the trumpet at the age of 7, taking private lessons that I continued through high school with several wonderful teachers. I began playing in ensembles at the age of 9. I began playing the bass at 15, drums at 17, and guitar at 19. I now perform on all instruments. I've been a part of the Philadelphia-based band Snacktime since 2020 and we've traveled the country together and played some legendary venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado, Irving Plaza in NYC, and were the house band for Jason Kelce's "They Call It Late Night" on ESPN. I graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Music Education degree (magna cum laude). I've performed as lead/solo trumpet with the Blue Lake International Jazz Orchestra on their month-long tour of Europe in 2010. I have performed with the Newark-Granville Symphony Orchestra and the Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra and many smaller ensembles. I am always very patient with all my students. I never try to put too much work on the student and always believe you should have more then one chance to get it right. Music is not a test and their is no failing, there is only the end result, which ends when the student makes progress, no matter how long it takes. I like to concentrate on my students abilities and ask that they bring 100% to their lessons as most of the lesson time is spent on the instrument; some lessons may be more informative for students interested inan in depthunderstanding of music theory.
