I hold a Master's Degree in Trumpet Performance from Long Island University C.W Post and a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education K-12 from Manhattanville College. I am in my third year as the Director of local High School Marching Band as well as a sitting member of the New York State Field Band Conference Executive Council as a Representative. Prior to this, I had performed in a variety of marching ensembles which include: The Tappan Zee Bridgeman, Featured soloist with the Hawthorne Caballeros Drum and Bugle Corps, Featured soloist with the West Sayville Golden Eagles Mini Corps, and a member of the Syracuse Brigadiers Drum and Bugle Corps. I always make the goals realistic for the student and I try my best to make the goal something that the student will enjoy. As an educator my goal and ambition isn't necessarily to develop future professional musicians. (although I'm happy to do so) For me the more important and rewarding factor is assisting in growing a flame of a passion, love understanding of music performance into a wild fire! By the age of 20, I was teaching at the Conservatory Division of the University of the Arts in Philly. The methods that I would typically use are the Arbans complete Conservatory method for trumpet and Cornet. Schlossberg´s Daily Drills and Studies, Clarkes method and Caruso. I have been studying these four methods quite some time now and understand not only the instruction on the page but the purpose of the excercise itself. It is important to adopt a teaching style that is tailored to the individual needs of each student, especially because each student learns at their own pace. Setting goals is one of the first topics I discuss with my students, and then indicate some of the steps they need to take to achieve the goals that they set for themselves.
