For beginning students I use instrument appropriate lesson books that teach the fundamentals of music, the instrument and progressively allows the student to feel comfortable with the sound and feel of the instrument. As they progress I begin introducing solo pieces and instruction to strengthen techniques, embouchure, sight reading, and theory abilities. My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time and have been teaching since. Today I am a music teacher at David Posnack Jewish Day School and the drum instructor at Piper High School. Since becoming the drum instructor at Piper High School we have received superior ratings four years in a row. At other times I studied with members of the Ensemble Modern in Germany. Most recently my musical studies have focused around composition and experimental music performance. I believe that the ultimate lesson that I learned from the best of the teachers, was how to teach oneself how to teach oneself, as you are your own best teacher. I am a creative, passionate trombonist, composer, arranger, and teacher who enjoys just about any aspect of music. I graduated from Stetson University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Music in Trombone Performance, and was recently accepted to the University of Central Florida's Master of Arts program, focusing on trombone performance and music theory. So far, I have performed on alto, tenor, or bass trombone in Florida All-State orchestras, the 2007 Honor Orchestra of America, and nearly every possible large and small ensemble at Stetson University, as well as with the Youth Brass Band of Central Florida and the Southern Winds.
