For the last 2 years I have been teaching private lessons at an elementary school and have been teaching group lessons when asked. During the fall I also have been a low brass technician for a local marching band. Finally I have played in many pit performances for local high schools. These opportunities have taught me a lot about being a teacher and a musician. Hello! I have been professional musician and educator since 2015 in Central and Southeast Pennsylvania. In 2018, I graduated from Millersville University with a B.A. in Trombone performance. I then enlisted into the United States Marine Corps band as a trombone instrumentalist, where I served active duty for four years. For four years I took lessons with James Erdman, retired Marine Band first chair trombone, and performed in over 4 ensembles every semester. For example, if you like rock, then you should study it intently, but also learn the theory of composition, scales, and chord patterns and progressions. I'm adamant about learning exercises from the "Arbans Book". This book is essential the brass bible that teaches proper fundamental techniques while developing reading skills. We will extensively on flexibility and scales through out all stages of development as well as intonation on the instrument. I am also really detailed about developing ear training to identify notes with out use of music and vice versa. A complete musician can both read and use his trained ear. Read More

For beginner students, I typically start with the Hal Leonard Essential Elements book. For more advanced students I love using Rochut Melodious Etudes and Arban's Method book. For all students, learning and being comfortable with all scales and keys is an essential fundamental skill I teach. In general, I am open to students bringing material they wish to work on, as long as they are progressing with fundamentals at an appropriate level. Read More
