In 2012 I graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor's Degree in Jazz Studies. Since then, I have moved to Nashville, earned my Master's Degree from Belmont University in 2014, and have began my professional career as a freelance saxophonist. I have had the chance to perform and record in some of Nashville's most historic venues and recording studios. I love to see kids progress in music and become excited about it!! My teaching style is very paced and hands on. If a student isn't getting something, I like to slow it down until they they do. I'm very complimentary and positive during lessons; this helps the student be confident. I tend to start beginning students with the Hal Leonard Essential Elements books, but if I find that the student either has previous experience or else progresses much faster than normal, I will move them to the Rubank Blue Book instead. Fundamentals are a critical element for learning any new instrument, and that includes playing scales. For older students I pick method books more specific to their age, learning style, and progress while still focusing on key points of interest for the student.
