I am currently working on my associates in music, and l plan on working on to receive my bachelor's in music theory and composition. I have been teaching privately for about four years. Most recently, I was awarded the Graduate Teaching Position at Bemont University for my final semester. I was in charge of weekly instruction for seven students, conducting both classical and commercial seminars, and leading Jazz Band and Small Group. I want the student to not have technique, tonal, or intonation based deficiencies interfere with the joy they get out of playing. I include basic theory and ear training exercises as well as improvisation work. Even if the student has zero interest in jazz, the exercises improve the student's ability to critically listen. Finally, I assign listening examples for the student so they have an idea of what music sounds like when performed by virtuoso level performers. Read More

I have seen my students achieve success at all levels, from being a beginner to winning a college scholarship to the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music! I have taught pre-K through adult instrumental and vocal music. I have taught Jr. High and High School Band. I presently am teaching in Gibson County as a part time public school music teacher since I retired from full time service over 2 years ago. (I just couldn't stay away from it!)
