While growing up in Spain, my Grandmother had a Piano Studio where she would prepare students to enter the Conservatory System. After noticing that I could play T.V. commercials by ear on the Piano, I was enrolled in music theory and piano at the age of 6. My wonderful mother started me in piano lessons when I was 5 years old. She never dreamed that I would go on to get a degree in music during those first years of lessons. I studied piano under Dr. John Cobb, who holds a Doctorate in Piano Performance from Julliard. I continued piano lessons for 13 years, but when I started college, I decided to major in trumpet. I use different books for different instruments but I don’t like to rely on them completely as all students learn at different rates and have different strengths and weaknesses. After graduation I went and taught in Chicago for a few years and Greenville SC where I was the music teacher in both schools.
