Overview:
While growing up in Spain, my Grandmother had a Piano Studio where she would prepare students to enter the Conservatory System. After noticing that I could play T.V. commercials by ear on the Piano, I was enrolled in music theory and piano at the age of 6. A year later, I entered the Conservatory. I now hold a Bachelor of Music Degree in Piano and Child Pedagogy.I have studied in the U.S. and Europe (where I won a piano scholarship) and performed in San Francisco, Oakland, New York City, and Madrid. I have won competitions, performed in chamber music ensembles and worked extensively as a an Accompanist. Lastly, I have a classical background, but can be equally inspired by Jazz and encourage students to find educational value in a variety of music.
EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching since 2001, when I started to build my student roster, taught an internship at my conservatory, and also held a position at a local community music center.  I presently have a music studio with a full roster. I am commited to fostering a supportive environment in which disciplined is achieved through a natural process.  I help students reach their goals by giving them all of the tools that they need to understand the music, sharing my own techniques, encouraging regular practice-time, and keeping the excitement of music-making alive by always giving classes a fun spin.

METHODS USED
For beginning students who are children, I typically start by finding a good method for them to work with. Each student is different, so I work with a variety of methods. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level.
LESSON STYLE
To see students develop their musical abilities effectively also helps the teacher to continue to grow as an artist, so my goal is to promote that kind of partnership. The great thing about private lessons is that students find that they enjoy performances even more after having had the opportunity to learn in their own way, at their own pace. Setting simple goals for my students creates a supportive structure that allows them to learn new concepts in each session while further synthesizing ones already explored.
