I have been offering music education since 2009, where I have had the luxury to work, learn and play with students, other fellow musicians and experience music education in a variety of environments and platforms whether in person or via the internet. I am a self-taught musician, beginning at Edgewood College, where I served as the pianist in the Jazz Ensemble. After college, I had the opportunity to play professionally for several years; as the pianist in the Jeff Peronto Jazz Orchestra (Big Band) and also was the pianist for a period of time with Madison, WI Jazz Club "Cafe' Coda" owner, Hanah Jon Taylor in the Hanah Jon Taylor Artet (Jazz Combo). For piano I use the Alfred series, and for violin and viola I use a combination of Essential Elements and Suzuki books.  As students advance I introduce additional solo repertoire.  My voice students learn from a variety of sources.  I usually start with a song they know well and work from there.  Students also learn a variety of warm-ups and sight-singing techniques.   Read More

Modern vocal pedagogy informs my teaching methods. By finding balance in air flow, phonation and resonance, the development of the voice is promoted in a healthy manner. Once this balance is consistent, a singer is capable of communicating more clearly and effectively. I encourage students to delve into a variety of genres, languages, characters, and challenges. I cater to each student's expectations in taking lessons, as well as their individual technical, musical, and performing needs. Read More

I first got into music when I was in elementary school. My first instrument was the upright bass fiddler. This help me learn the notes on the bass clef. I later learned to play trumpet which was the instrument that used to audition to get into the Navy Band. I also played piano for college that I worked at called the College of Lake County in Greyslake, IL. I now play the electronic piano at the church that I attend, Parklawn Assembly of God. Read More

Dennis H. has accompanied the Bethel College Women’s Choir on tour, Moody voice students, and Christian Youth Theater productions of “Annie”, “Narnia” and “The Little Princess”. As a past member of Frizane Music Ministries, he has entertained the public at Chicago’s Daley Plaza and in Independence Day parades in Elmwood Park, as well as several retirement communities.
