Being curious is one of the most important elements of learning an instrument and fostering the students innate curiosity and giving them a space to personalize their interest in the instrument is vital to my teaching style. I started playing guitar when I was 13. My parents couldn't afford lessons so I had to teach myself how to play. It wasn't a train wreck, but it wasn't pretty either! After a few years of trial and error I finally had my first guitar lesson and realized I was doing everything wrong! I play in a wide variety of diverse musical groups on various instruments. I have performed with orchestras, big bands, and jazz combos as well as funk, hip hop, and even metal bands, all at a professional level. Although trombone is my main instrument, it has given me the solid foundation to play euphonium and tuba at a high level as well. So far, I've taught some kids and adults.  I've learned that teaching kids versus teaching adult students is different. Each age group would require their own tasks. For instance, if I were to be teaching a kid who is maybe 10 years old, I would start off by introducing the notes on the instrument. I am an enthusiastic and inspiring teacher who likes succeeding with students and sharing my passion of music. In 2014, I graduated from the University of Milwaukee with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Saxophone Performance. Traveling all around the midwest has been one of the better experiences of my career as a musician, and I have had the chance to play both at Summerfest, as well as touring the United States in numerous shows as a musician with the european wind ensemble Blaskapelle Milwaukee, and my own jazz trio.
