Featured Mukilteo Music Teachers

Kelli C

Instruments:

Kelli has been singing, songwriting, and playing guitar for ten years. She is a self described folk-tronica artist. She brings lilting melodies, broadly painted string arrangements and just-on-the-gloopy side of cracked open drum machine sequences. Her music pulls from a nomadic history. A history that includes lives as a tap dancer, a military-wife, helper of the homeless, and music teacher. She creates music with a wish list mix of artist like producers Brian Deck (Iron and wine, Califone), Scott Colburn (Sun City Girls, Animal Collective), Jeffery Mcnulty (Vera Project) and other cool folk. She also goes under the moniker "Kelli's Starlight Wishes.' And in 2011 she received a grant from the Grammy Foundation. She currently resides on the label, Aphonia Recordings.

Zarni d

Instruments:

Zarni is a Classically trained Pianist/Vocalist/Performer/Songwriter with over 10 years of experience performing for audiences of up to 1000 people. She discovered Pop, Rock and Jazz when she started performing in restaurants, coffee shops and private venues at age 16 and has loved playing those genres since. Zarni recently moved to Seattle from Boston and is full time professional musician and educator.

Nicole G

Instruments:

Welcome! Thank you for visiting my page!  I'm Nicole, a professional opera singer and passionate, dedicated voice teacher who loves to help students find their true voices and develop fine artistry in all types of musical genres. Originally from New York City. I grew up in Hillsborough, New Jersey, and graduated from Ithaca College with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance. I recently completed a professional certificate program - the Artist Diploma in Early Music (Baroque Opera and Chamber Music) - at Cornish College of the Arts here in Seattle, WA.  I have been lucky to perform across the US, in Italy and in Germany. Recent hilights include my Seattle debuts performing as Venus in John Blow’s "Venus and Adonis" with Cornish Opera Theater and in concert through Seattle Early Music Guild. I will be joining the cast of Amherst Early Music Festival's opera production of Purcell's The Fairy Queen in July 2013. I've had the amazing opportunity to perform in ensemble behind Kristin Chenoweth at the MET Opera, and in choral ensembles in New York at Alice Tully Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Symphony Space, Carnegie Hall, with the NYC Ballet at the NY State Theater, and behind Brian Stokes Mitchell for a recent Actor's Equity Gala. As a Baroque specialist, I am member of Early Music America, and as a published lyricist, I am a member of ASCAP (the American Society for Composers, Authors, and Publishers).

Melissa F

Instruments:

I am an enthusiastic and motivated instructor who loves teaching music and working with kids!  After receiving my Bachelor of Music at Washington State University, I began my professional singing career as a production singer on cruise ships, traveling all over the world to exotic ports of call in Asia, Africa, and Europe. Some of the companies I worked for included Norwegian Cruise Lines and Celebrity Cruises. I love musical theatre and have performed at Village Theatre, Tacoma Musical Playhouse, Harlequin Productions, and Florida Studio Theatre. I am a regular music director for Village Theatre's KIDStage program and teach groups of kids ages 5-18. Melissa has been a professional piano accompanist since she was 15 years old. She has taught piano for many years and has musical directed for several educational programs, including Tacoma Musical Playhouse, Studio East, Kidstage, and Broadway Bound. She has been teaching ages 5 to 65 for over 15 years now.

Matthew H

Instruments:

My name's Matt, I've been playing guitar since 1986 and have been teaching students music since 1991.  When not teaching, I'm usually found practicing or performing with my band onstage or at an open mic night somewhere. I've Networked & Jammed/Played With Many NW Legends including: Roger Fisher- (Heart) Lynn Sorensen- (Bad Company/KZOK's Spike & The Impalers/Paul Rogers) Jeff Kathan- (Paul Rogers Band/ Bad Co./Montrose)  Donny Evola- (Queensryche/Geoff Tate/Foghat)  Doug Mcgrew- (Geoff Tate/Queensryche)   I have had many guitar teachers myself including one true Famous Rock Star legend here in Pacific NW. The only thing I think that I'm better at than music, is teaching others to do the same.. & I Absolutely Love It. Because of this, my students get better faster and have way more fun while learning..
