Featured Mukilteo Music Teachers

Anita K

Instruments:

Hi! My name is Anita, and I have operated a flute studio in the Phoenix Valley since 2010, and have now moved to Seattle to pursue my Ph.D. at the UW. I also teach beginning-intermediate piano. I was a full-time Band Director for the Glendale Elementary School District in Glendale, Arizona for five years, teaching grades K-8 band and general music. I specialize in teaching beginners, moving quickly to establish a quality of tone and practice procedures to master the instrument for whatever purpose (school enrichment, personal enjoyment, performance, auditions for college, whatever you want to do!)

Klaus L

Instruments:

Every personality is different, therefore every students not only is different but has individually different goals. This may range from wanting to learn an instrument just for their own fun, or maybe wanting to also play in a group or ensemble, maybe the student is part of a school wind ensemble and needs help with the instrument. Others may want help to be able to pass a music school entrance audition. As you can see there is no one-size-fits-all teaching strategy.

Libby S

Instruments:

Libby has many experiences in the music world, and brings this to her teaching.

Melanie V

Instruments:

Melanie is an active performer and educator living in Seattle, WA. As a classically trained percussionist, she believes that a true educator must remain active in performance and growth to be the best possible. She has performed with a variety of large and chamber ensembles, notably: Talujon Percussion Quartet at the Lincoln Center Out of Doors Festival, Slee Sinfonietta, the Southern Tier Symphony, and the UB Percussion Ensemble at the June in Buffalo Festival. While at the Hartt School, she toured with the Wind Ensemble and performed in the CBDNA conference, and the 2007 MENC conference with the Orchestra and Chamber Choir as a guest percussionist. Throughout her degrees, she has performed five solo recitals and has commissioned a number of new works for percussion, including a concerto, percussion quartet, trio, and two solo works. Melanie has also had the opportunity to perform in nine musicals as a pit musician, ranging from black box theater to mainstage productions.

Erling I

Instruments:

I'm a gentle person who believes in exposing my students to the best music, and bringing out of them the music they have within. The idea is to ease their frustrations, not add to them.  As long as the student actually tries, I feel confident they will enjoy the wxperience and learn a great deal.  Music is one of life's greaat pleasures and worth every bit of the effort required to do it well.
