Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

For beginning students depending on the instrument of choice, I use: (In no particular order) Standard of Excellence for Band Instruments, consistent with school best practice methods Piano Adventures by Nancy and Randall Faber, for consistency and technique development as well as decent solo repertoire for recitals Hal Leonard's Complete Guitar Course or Alfred, both are good sources. With young students, I allow myself to be a bit more comprehensive in that I can start from the very basics from the beginning and even come up with simple games with rhythm, basic ear training and reading notation. The big challenge with young players is the actual act of physically playing the guitar and I encourage parents to invest in a quality instrument that is easy to play. I try and get my older children and teenagers to try and play as early as possible to develop a passion for the instrument, but not before building an understanding of the basics. Read More

My style of teaching allows the student to make discoveries about themselves regarding music in a gradual self awareness method. I provide examples of music not only related specifically to the guitar but additional styles and instrumentation. I would like to see each student progress at his or her own pace. I believe that my students should have high expectations and have fun while completing goals. I make sure lessons are fun and progressive. I hold my students to high expectations so when they meet their goal they actually kill two birds with one stone (ex: figuring out a difficult passage in school music while progressing in technique exercises).
