Everybody learns differently and at different paces, and I prefer to cater to those individual styles. The one thing I find both rewarding and beneficial is to learn (or work on) at least one new song or lick for each session. I also encourage the students to keep a journal of songs and licks, just to help visualize and remember all that they have learned. Overall my work is focused on discovering music with the students and facing hurdles as we go. For voice I often let the student dictate the repertoire and support them with good technical basis. My students love a variety of singing, soft jazzy or loud and belty. For piano i prefer to use the Faber methods. I have been teaching students up to level 3. For guitar I can use hal leonard or Alfreds but the Alfreds seems to move faster. Read More

My methods of teaching are based on where the students are at in there study of music. For beginners I like to teach them how to read music as they learn each note on their instruments. After that it really depends on what kind of music you want to learn, what you already know. Music has always help a special place in my heart. I have been playing music since I was 6 years old. My mother is also a piano teacher. I was a traveling musician for many years playing with bands all over the country. I am currently attending the Spokane Falls Community College and am enrolled in their Audio Engineering program. I was in the United States Navy for 5 years. During that time I had a band put together so while we were in different ports all over the world we could play music for people That was one of the most thrilling things I have every had the pleasure of experiencing.
