I have designed curriculums that work in phases according to the skill level of the student. In the beginning stages the curriculum is designed primarily based around the music theory required for playing the instrument at a high level. The lessons bounce back and forth between theory introduction and theory application. This continues throughout the beginning lessons, going from method to method accordingly. While working towards his degree Jesse often performed as a soloist and as a member of the UC Santa Cruz Guitar Ensemble. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts in music, Jesse decided to try his hand at composing and went on to recieve a Master's degree in composition, also from the University of California, Santa Cruz. My plan of attack is to learn the guitar from every angle and allow all the information to fuse together for my students. I keep my lessons fun and upbeat, but with a focus. I will first understand what direction the student wants to go musically, whether it be playing chords and singing or being entirely a solo guitarist. From there we can understand what style they want to be playing as I would encourage having a basic understanding of all musical styles.
