My teaching experience started shortly after receiving my Bachelor's degree in 2011. I have taught both in-home lessons and in music studios and conservatories. Students of mine have continued their musical studies at Harvard, Eastman, UCLA and others. Having held positions as an Adjunct Faculty in Music, I have a strong understanding of how to help students reach their musical goals. I specialize in getting beginners of all ages started quickly using a method of motivating goal-setting. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I usually start with how to make a sound on the flute by practicing only the headjoint for the first week to help them develop the muscles in the lips and help to keep the aperture small. Once they feel confident with the headjoint, I would then teach them how to hold the flute properly and have a correct posture when playing. As soon as the student has progressed on these fundamentals, I will introduce them to the first notes on the flute which are typically B,A and G above the staff. Read More

It is very important for me that students not only take away something from each lesson, but also enjoy coming to lessons. I try to always acknowledge students' improvements and be encouraging. I understanding sometimes lessons can be stressful or not so interesting, so I try different ways to teach and guide my students so the process of learning is enjoyable. I want to keep students interested and inspired, I encourage them to play for themselves and their loved ones, and find pieces they like to bring to lessons. Read More
