I am happy to work on standard classical flute repertoire, contemporary flute repertoire, and music in non-classical styles. For young piano students, our first few lessons will be dedicated to posture, hand position, basic rhythm, and learning note names on the piano keyboard. We will then progress to music reading. Growing up with three older brothers who all played instruments, I was quickly introduced to playing gigs for family functions and other events. In addition to school bands, honor bands, and orchestras, I was also able to play with my local University concert band while still in high school. For beginners children, I like to start with a primer book. Either through the suzuki method or piano adventures. Also, there are instances where I find simple pieces from different composers, put them together into a booklet and start teaching through those while having the student write music theory in a music notebook. For beginner adults, I think its best to start with things they're interested in playing. I know that adults gravitate towards music because they would like to play some of their favorite songs and through that I teach them music, both theory and practice.  Read More

I am an accomplished musician who has been playing classical flute for 22 years. After attending the Boston Conservatory, I moved back to California in 2010 where I began performing in orchestras such as the Palisades Symphony, Brentwood-Westwood Symphony, Dream Orchestra, American Youth Symphony, and Los Angeles Flute Orchestra. I have participated in and won numerous competitions in California such as the Kiwanis Club Solo Competition, the Junior Bach Festival,  and the Bay Women's Club of Santa Monica Scholarship Competition.
