For piano students, I like to use the Alfred courses.  This method is great because they have courses of study for all ages and levels, and students can progress through several courses throughout their study.  For flute/clarinet students, I like to start with either Hal Leonard's Essential Elements or the Rubank methods books.  Once students have moved beyond the basics, I like to introduce solo repertoire that is appropriate for their level. In 2012, I graduated from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA with a Bachelors degree in Music Education with a dual focus in Jazz Studies. During that time, I had the chance to perform with artist like Branford Marsalis, Benny Golson, Nicolas Peyton and the renowned Village Vanguard Jazz Orchestra. I was born in Cwmafan, South Wales, UK.into a house where the Welsh Language was spoken and sung. I was educated in Sandfields Comprehensive School, Hull then Cardiff Universities, where I studied with renowned Welsh composer Alun Hodinott. I taught in the London School system for several years. I emigrated to the USA in 1975, living and performing in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and then moving to Phoenix in 1989.
