For beginners students, I start with Trevor Wye's Beginners Book for Flute, as well as Rubank's selected duets (Volume 1), and Marcel Moyse The Debutante Flutist. Once we have covered the basic foundations of the flute and have formed a core sound, I then introduce solo repertoire that is appropriate for the students. For all of my students, I always like to ask what they are interested in playing, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

I'm a flute teacher interested in educating young flutists as whole musicians, integrating music theory, ear training, eurhythmics, and history where applicable. With a background in music therapy, I have a complex understanding of how music and music learning interact with a person's body, mind, and spirit, and I believe that becoming better musicians can make us better human beings, if we let it. In 2007, I graduated from Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Flute Performance and in 2011, I graduated from the Universtiy at Buffalo with a Master's in Music Education (NYS Certified Music Educator). I am a passionate jazz saxophonist, composer, and educator originally from Los Angeles area. In 2018, I graduated with B.A. in Saxophone Performance with an emphasis in Jazz Studies at California State University, Long Beach. I am currently attending Manhattan School of Music for a Masters degree in Jazz Composition. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to perform with CSULB's Concert Jazz Orchestra at the 2017 Elmhurst Jazz festival in Chicago, the 2016-2018 LA Jazz Institute, and even have one of my compositions performed at the 2018 JEN Conference in Dallas Texas.
