Often, if they are struggling, I'll tell them to say something like, "I can do it" aloud a few times. I set fun goals and I challenge each student every step of the way to help them reach them. I point out their strengths yet I keep a close eye on their weaknesses and work with them to eliminate any all bad habits in playing instruments.
