While in the AF, though, I've been blessed to have several part-time college teaching jobs. I taught saxophone, sax quartet and clarinet for five years at Adams State University in Colorado. For five of my six years in Illinois, I taught saxophone and sax quartet at McKendree University. I've always maintained a private studio of students ranging in age from 8 to 80+. I taught a little in Idaho but really started teaching in earnest when I moved to Colorado. I've taught individuals from the young beginner to the older person looking to relearn a lost art. I have also adjudicated and taught masterclasses. I've found a passion for working with others that I didn't know that I had. I am a passionate musician, educator, conductor, and composer, and I have been happily obsessed with music since I began piano lessons at age 10. I joined the school band program in 6th grade, and since then, I have learned how to play and teach many different instruments. My primary instrument is percussion, but I play piano, low brass, clarinet, bass guitar, and I also have perfect pitch. My teaching experience began in 2008, when I began teaching private lessons on various instruments, on voice, and on conducting. I later went on to teach band and choir at Cedar Bluff High School in 2011. After this, I volunteered as the band director at Valley Head High School in 2014. I have enjoyed every moment of teaching music and have taken so much from the experiences that I've had.
