I have used several method books in the past but find them all limited or focused on styles or technique that is not what the student wants or needs to learn. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Rubanks Method for their instrument. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce instrument specific work from various time tested method books, solo repertoire appropriate for any auditions they may be interested.
