For beginner kids, I typically use the Liela Fletcher Lesson Book series. I find that my students usually progress faster with this series. For teens and adult beginners, I use the James Bastien "Older Beginner Series or John Thompson series to get them started. I like to give my students a variety of excercises or pieces to work on to ensure that they don't get bored or burnt out practicing the same thing.
