I work both as a freelance musician and bass instructor. I graduated from Millikin University in 2012 with a degree in Commercial Bass Performance. After I graduated I worked with a wide range of musical groups. I have performed in showbands, latin groups,musicals, jazz quartets, neo soul groups, and have even played contrabass in guitar ensembles. I would say one of the greater experiences I have had as a musician was when I made an album with the Millikin University Latin Jazz Project, which won Downbeat Magazine's 36th annual Student Music Award for the category of Undergraduate College Outstanding Performance.  Read More

Teaching for me began as a complete accident but the love for it has been undying ever since. At the Berklee Day Sessions Summer Program in 2011, I played in and directed ensembles of musicians aged 10-13. I bonded with a guitar player and on the day of the recital, got my first private instruction student for bass guitar. For beginning students, my methods are centered around melody in the form of easy to play songs and tunes, and developing an understanding for basic theory through rudimentary scales and chord construction. More advanced students are entreated to delve more deeply into melodic playing and advanced scale work through modal play, advanced chordal technique, "tips and tricks for fancy licks", and pointers for breaking down, and understanding the songs you want to play.
