I enjoy seeing my students having fun while playing music. My hope is to enable all my students to be able to get to a point where they are enjoying their own playing. I try to be very understanding as a teacher and establish a genuine relationship with my students so later down the line, I'm not only a music instructor to them but also a mentor they can come to in times of need. I began teaching voice 6 years ago, while still in my own undergraduate studies. Teaching bass and piano quickly followed once I realized how much I enjoyed the teaching side of music. I learned to love music at an early age, which got me into taking lessons, and eventually learning the process that is required to move a student forward. Slow and steady progress in all areas of music is the way I have learned, and is the way that I teach. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! I find it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

I think it is important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. Everyone learns differently and everyone has different interests and goals. My goal as a teacher is to try and cater to the student's interests. My mission is to give you the tools and knowledge to be able to play the music want to learn and be able to give the instruction to be able to be creative on your instrument. Read More

My other focus with all students regardless of interest is rhythm. I think that in a lot of guitar education there is lack of investment in this topic. All musicians regardless of instrument are responsible for having a solid sense of time, especially if you ever care to play with other musicians. It's the difference between putting a listener at ease and having an audience be constantly on edge, hoping you won't make a mistake. Read More

I have been teaching students off and on since 2007. Regular practice has always been encouraged to my students, but I encourage even more to find the love in learning and playing music. Regardless of age or skill level, my students are all equal to me. As a beginner, learning a new intstrument can be tedious, but that is the pathway of finding the love in the instrument. No matter if my students want to be versatile like myself, use the intrument to accompany themselves, or pursue music as a living or hobby, I will encourage them to share what they have learned to their families and to the public. It is important that every student learns and improves at their own pace because everyone learns differently. So I break down songs and theory in to increments so that they can be more easily digested over time. I find that this method of learning is extremely helpful in the retention of the knowledge the student learns. Also not all students are interested in learning the same things so I think it is very important to find out what the student wants to learn and gain from playing music and what their expectations for themselves are.
