Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. While my degrees are in music and performance, I have been teaching privately part time at my Universities for 4+ years, and now I am currently teaching students in my home studio, as well as student in home lessons. In both voice and piano I have experience in both classical and contemporary repertoire. My teaching style focuses on student-lead learning, where I will present a technique and then have the student analyze for themselves the effect it has on their vocal mechanism. The goal of training is to produce smart singers; what is the point of singing one song well if you can't apply the same techniques to another? Through problem-solving out loud, my students quickly learn to analyze their own performances and apply corrections on a consistent, active basis. Read More

I always tailor my lessons to my students needs and desires and never waste time. Nothing is more important than a students progress and growth so I weed out all the irrelevant or potentially boring information in music lessons and cut straight to the chase of what is going to help the student learn and enjoy their progress. I think music making is the most appealing part of learning to play a new instrument. This is why I try to make every new concept Iteach as appealing and as fun as possible. For example, if in day one I am teaching two notes, I like to have as much fun with those two notes by making a song or a game out of them. Instruments: Voice
I usually start with breathing exercises and vocalises for all students. I also use the exercise books Concone and Sieber. After the student has grasped the breathing and the coordination of the vocalises we move on to repertoire that is age appropriate. I encourage my students to sing in Italian as this helps them to acquire a proper technique because Italian uses pure vowels. I have studied with some great teachers and feel like I need to pass on those methods to the next generation of musicians. Read More
