After Book 1 of each series, we begin to explore standard repertoire. Alfred Book 2 is a large jump in difficulty, meant only for more advanced students. Guitar / Bass: New guitar or bass students will start with Essential Elements Book 1. All new students will focus on learning the fretboard and learning how to play common chords and tabs. For beginning adults I try to determine exactly what they are wanting to achieve by starting an instrument at this point in life.
