My teaching experience began when I was in college. I taught trombone and euphonium private lessons for several years in the school district that I attended when I was a student. Additionally, I also have done All State Masterclasses for the TMEA trombone etudes. Since most of the students I teach are members of a band program, I make sure that most of my lessons are based on what is being learned at school. Planning an individual practice schedule is imperative for their success but at the same time make it enjoyable so the student will want to practice. I have taught private trumpet lessons for about 4 years in the Dublin/Stephenville area. I feel the best way to approach an instrument like the trumpet is to have steady warmups, technical studies (Clarke, Small, Arbans) with elements like flexibility, tone studies, and calisthenics; and of course, literature. I am very experienced with trumpet literature spanning from beginner to advanced. I teach classical as well as jazz trumpet, and believe that they intertwine and it is helpful to practice a piece in different styles to better acclimate to the piece. Read More
